Hey Oscar! How YOU doing?

It's that time of year again!! Roll out the red carpet baby! I love watching the Oscars!! Well, for the most part. I am one of those HORRIBLE people who just like to see the pretties and what they are wearing. This year I think the Oscars will be super exciting though! With the strike freshly over, I hope the writer's will just knock our socks off!! Even though I HATE to admit it, I have become a Jon Stewart fan as well over the last few years. My fiance has a man crush on him I swear. Until Sean came along I wasnt that involved in politics. It is hard to avoid it all though when you are dating an editorial cartoonist. ANYWAY, back to the show. I have ALL OF MY FINGERS AND TOES crossed for our sweet Ellen Page! I live about 5 hours from where she grew up in Nova Scotia and I TOTALLY want on of our own to win! How exciting would that be!! I have loved her since I first saw her in Marion Bridge. Learned she was from Halifax while watching X-Men. I dont remember ever watching the Pit Pony, though I am sure I must have. Grew such respect for her acting in Hard Candy. And well, JUNO? HOLY MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER! Ok, may be not ever but I will be buying it and watching it again and again. She is such a talented woman and I am just dying to see what else she brings!

Who I WANT to win!
Leading Role
Viggo Mortense (though I think Daniel Day-Lewis will win)
Ellen Page (she deserves it!)

Animated Film
Ratatouille (spelling?)

Best Picture
Juno (again thinking they will choose Blood but I dont want them too)

Visual Effects
TRANSFORMERS (how could they NOT win)

Anyway, those are my HOPEFULS! Oh and who is going to be the best dressed and worst dressed? We can only imagine!

Speaking of great things happening! The Amazing Digi Scrap Race has begun! Rachel and I won the last time and it was SO MUCH FUN! We had a terrific time and became great friends. I hope everyone has a wonderful time and the best of luck to everyone! Every now and then, when I can, I plan on playing along on the challenges! The first challenge was to create a layout using a template made by Christy Haig. So much fun! Here is my layout. (all credits can be found with the original layout at NDSIB)

So Proud of Myself!

I cleaned my house today! I even was ambitious enough to clean out Connor's closet. I bought a new cube organizer for his books. Until today we have been using his old change table but that is now gone! YAY! We donated 6 bags of clothes and 2 bags of books today. So nice to be a little more organized and a lot less junk floating around. ALSO I have some paint to paint all the rooms. That is going to take some time but I will be SO HAPPY when it is all done. I am going to have to get a lot of help as well. I am very disappointed in my wrists. How odd a sentence is that! lol I am though. My carpal tunnel syndrome is REALLY acting up! I have been having quite a lot of pain, tingling and lack of strength. This causes problems in so many areas of my life! It is hard to carry groceries, pick up Connor, type for long periods of time, design, scrap, you name it!! I do it anyway though! I do not want surgery! I refuse!

I have been fairly active creatively though. This week I thought I would take a shot at the Digi Dare! This week was to create a lift of one of your own layouts. This is the original layout: Yet To Come

And this is my lift: Sexy Momma

I really loving doing lifts, even when they are of my own creations, because you can learn so much. It really helps you stretch your creativity! Two layouts that are so similiar but still so different. I highly recommend people try the dare this week! :)

Trash To Treasure!

I have decided that I will take part in the Trash to Treasure weekend as well! Although I am not an official stop on the hunt I still have lots of fun happening in my store!

There is no better time to take advantage of my new goodies in the store either! I went on an alpha craze this week! I have two new ones in the store now!

I know this weekend is going to be super crazy busy with people hunting for freebies and scrapping them up! Cannot wait to see all of the galleries being flooded by fantastic creations! It's all so exciting. Like a digi scrapper's own personal utopia!

Playing again...

I spent most of the morning playing with the bridal photos some more. Here is what I came up with! On the first photo I used my Get Dirty Textured Overlays pack and a Damask texture from Deviantart.com. On the second photo I used a old picture of the moon I took and Essential Glitter from Birgit Kerr.

I have also spent A LOT of time on Facebook today. I have received SO MANY wonderful comments on my photos from the wedding. This makes me very happy. :) Like a little kid who gets a pat on the back for doing a good job on their homework. lol
The weather is driving me nuts! I wish it would make up its mind! One day it is -16C and then the next it is 9C! No wonder everyone is so sick lately. Luckily Connor, Sean and I have been spared. I hope that we are able to stand healthy for the rest of the year, at least! I have lots of work to catch up on as well!! I was working on a new product today and PS froze on me. THAT NEVER HAPPENS TO ME! (normally) So I hadn't saved yet and lost it all. Grrrrr! I guess I have to start over now. Hope to have some new things in the store in the next few days. Until then, check out my new Star Brite Overlay pack!

Happy Scrapping!

Here comes the bride...

I had the pleasure of taking photos at Rene and Joey Neville's wedding on Saturday! Wow, what a terrific time I had with them. They are fun, free spirited and loving people. Rene and I went to high school together but never really hung out at all. I had the chance to hang out with some great people! It was the most relaxed wedding I have ever attended! There was no rushing, not really any stressing. Just a lot of good laughs, well wishes and joyful conversations. There was a lot against us as far as the weather went. It was -16C and -27C with the wind chill so we unable to take any photos outside! AND it was a nighttime wedding so we had very little light to work with. All and all though, things turned out well. I dropped the photos off to the bride tonight and she loved them! They have already been scattered throughout Flickr and Facebook. Here are a few of my faves from the day!

Shooting weddings can be so stressful because it only happens once. There can be no redos but I still love it. :) I love that I am able to not only share the day with the couple but also help them preserve their special moments. Also, I can get some GREAT tips for my own future wedding! ;)

It's A Snow Day!

Last night before bed I prayed that it would be a snow day for Connor. I know how much he loves the snow and we have not had much this year. Well, my prayers were answered. Connor has lots of snow to play in this afternoon. Unfortunately, Mommy forgot to realize that she wouldnt be able to do anything today! There are so many things that I should be working on but I find myself uninspired. I want to create! I do, but things are just not working out for me. I have scoured the galleries, the forums, Flickr, Range Finder, I cannot seem to find anything that makes me want to get off my butt. Or stay on it for that matter. I want to do nothing and everything all at once. Connor asked if we could play with 'that big round thing' again, aka my new reflector. I said YES! Some photos with good lighting is something I need to be working on! However, he neglected to mention he wanted me to take photos of his stuffed animals. Ah well, at least they dont move. ;) I got one photo of him. It was a keeper too so that was nice.

I am hoping that after dinner I will be more ambitious and get somethings done. May be even get outside and take some photos today. The man is now here to plow so that is good timing. Connor is in, too cold out to play for long. May be we could just throw on a movie and snuggle all day. That sounds like a good plan to me. :) Hot chocolate, a good movie, lots of blankets and pillows. Awww....an afternoon with my baby.

I have decided that I want to jump on the Ready Made Album tm bandwagon. So I got busy with my Modish Ways Combo pack and created this 12 page album! It is the perfect way for you to set off all your feminine and heritage layouts. With soft, romantic colors of pink, blue, purple, tan and black, all you have to do is place your photos and journaling on the pages for a quick, beautiful album.

Check it out in the store now!
I am hoping to get some more things in the store in the next few days if life permits!
OH and check out how sexy my man looked the other morning. We were at his grandmother's house having breakfast and he was staring out the window at the ocean, lost in thought.

Have a good one!

Mojo Missing!

It seems that the current trend of people losing their mojos has struck my home. As hard as I try lately, it seems nothing 'great' is coming out of me. I am trying desperately to get some good lighting shots to take back to Warren this week but nothing is coming up roses. May be I am worrying too much and trying too hard? Should I just relax and hope the inspiration comes? Should I try harder? ACK! What is a girl to do when she feels so lost. This is something I want so badly for myself and for my family. I know this sounds naive but I want to make things pretty. I want to leave an impression when people look at my photos. The technical side of things is getting in the way! lol I realize though that I have to keep trucking along, it will all come together once the basics are complete. Here are some photos I have taken. I do believe the lighting is improving.

The last one is of my brother Mark who happened to drop in at the wrong time. Poor thing was ambushed into a chair and before he knew what was happening, I was taking photos. The second is my mother at her house yesterday. Of course, Connor, the star of the show is always first. Even if I didnt get the light right in the photo, I got it right in him. ;)

My Head Feels Woozy

I am sick. Again. There really should be some sort of limit on how many times a person can get a head cold during a year. Surely I have surpassed my quota by now. The worst is that I left my Neocitran at Nan's and am going to suffer tonight. I have this wonderful *cough cough* nasal spray however that is doing wonders. By wonders I mean, my nose is now burning, running, still sneezing and I have a yucky taste in the back of my mouth. For two days now I have been unable to decide what to do with myself. I want to be productive but at the same time I would rather be in bed. I went to bed at 9pm last night and I was home alone! I then woke up at 1am and played with my camera. lol I am such a geek. I was excited today! I bought a 5-in-1 reflector and two new filters for my Nikon. YAY! I am looking forward to some landscape testing with the polarizing filter. OH and I bought Scott Kelby's The Digital Photographer book and I love it! It has so many fantastic little tips. Also, I think he has a wonderful sense of humor. His wife? So lucky, you HAVE to read his dedications at the beginning. The man nearly had me in tears!!!

Warren Gordon was nice enough to meet with me this weekend. We went over some of my photos together and he gave me a few tips. He lent me this fantastic DVD of a PPOC convention in honor of his wife. My goodness, that woman is so talented! A nurse, artist, award winning photographer, a classical pianist. AMAZING! Sean and I sat in awe of the movie from beginning to end. Just wonderful. It was labeled 'Share the Passion' and it certainly inspired us.

So through my haze I did manage to get a new product in the store today!! Go me! Some new templates!! I am creating some more which I hope will be in the store soon! By soon I mean tomorrow. ;)

I created a layout of my Mom with them. Everything used is by me and available in my store at NDISB!

Now I am off to a chat at the Guild! Tonight's discussion is how to correct an overexposed photo! Should be fun!
