Dr. McQT

Yesterday we all headed to the doctor's together for a big family gathering.  Seriously, my mother, my father and Connor all had appointments one right after the other.  It was a Head clan party.  :)  Connor apparently has asthma and needs two inhalers a day, four times a day.  Ick.  He is thoroughly  enthused about the whole idea and eagerly asks when he will be able to breath again.  Yuppers, thats my boy.  Today while I was attempting to get everything together he was bouncing everywhere.  I looked up to the sky said quietly, "Lord, give me the strength to deal with this child today."  Connor looked at me, as bright as ever and said, "Jesus said to tell you that all you have to do is love me."  Awwwww how adorable is that?  I could not help but laugh.  Such a good kid.  The doctor asked if anyone smokes around Connor.  I said the only people in his life who smoke are his two grandmothers, who go outside to smoke.  (Not that that helps much)  He looked at my mother and said, "Quit smoking."  I think he may have mentioned it to her before from his tone.  A few minutes later he looked at her again and said, "Quit smoking."  Ah, I love him.  I told him that he was a complete cutie and that I wanted to take him home with me.  Of course his wife and three children, oh and Sean, might stop me. ;)

Connor is constantly going with the camera, such a fantastic purchase.  I understand that most people thought that buying a six year old his own digital camera was a bad idea but he is LOVING it.  When it is not in use it is always put up and turned off.  He is always very careful and creative.  Like mother, like son, I suppose.

Day 22

Here he is watching Sean make him a paper airplane with camera in hand.

Day 22

While at the doc's, I asked him about eating clean and he gave me a mouthful about not taking herbal supplements.  lol  I explained to him about Eating Clean and he told me that it was "virtually impossible to do around here" but encouraged me to do my best.  He highly recommended buying my food at the farmer's market and I will do my best.  Sean and I checked it out before Christmas.  We found out there are little veggies but we can buy free range meat and eggs there.  A small step in the right direction.  I purchased Tosca Reno's book, The Eat Clean Diet for Family and Friends.

tosca

I really enjoyed reading it and it is already helping our diet.  Sean will not stop looking at me and telling me how great I look.  lol  AND I am down another pound this week which puts me at a 7lb weight loss since Christmas.  We headed to the Bulk Barn last night to pick up some things for our cleaner eating habits.

Day 23

Day 23

First dish is a variety of natural, unsalted nuts and seeds that Sean mixed up for us.  Then we have some ground flax seed, buckwheat flour, quinoa (pronounced keen-wa), almonds, almond butter (which is pricey but Connor LOVES it), sea salt and Sean's curry powder.  I am not big on curry but Sean likes it so I promised to make him something with it.  I also stopped at the fish man and bought some fresh salmon and cod fillets.  Yum!  I also picked up a steamer, it sounds odd but I have never used one before but am looking forward to learning new things.

Day 24

Day 24

Sean gave me this candy a few years ago.  Just the one.  Isn't he sweet?  He did not even remember when I showed it to him but he did reply with, "Wow, see, I can be romantic."  Yes, he can.  Happy hump day!

MOJO COME BACK!

It has been a long time now and my mojo is still on the loose.  Have you seen it?  Its really cute and smart and funny and just plain adorable.  I think may be its mad at me for taking it for granted.  If you see it, please tell it I love it and want it to come home.  :(  Until then...

I completed this layout today, I am not entirely happy with it but I it's kay.  I used my new kit, Every Breath.  These are two of my bestest friends, Andrea on the left and Jen on the right.  Andrea is home from Alberta for a few days and showed up on my doorstep on Friday!  YAY!  It's amazing how much you can miss someone and not even realize it until you see them again.   Us girls had a wonderful weekend hanging out and talking.  We caught up on everything, talked about weddings (no not mine, Jen is getting married in the fall), family and the usual girl gossip.

andrea-and-jen

I am still going strong with the 365 project!

Day 19

It was late and everyone was tired but they let me take a picture anyway!  Cuz they loves me.  ;)

Day 19

Day 20

I watched the Miss America Pageant on Saturday night.  It was a nice quiet evening at home.  Well, a few hours anyway, and I greatly welcomed the quiet and just plain being a girl looking at pretty dresses.  We have been so busy at home and away this  month.

Day 21

Day 21

Little niece Emma came for Sunday morning coffee with us this week, she looked totally adorable.  Can you tell which pictures I took with my Nikon and which ones with Connor's Kodak?  I CAN!  lol

Day 22

Also, Andrea's Nan is going into surgery tomorrow so if you wouldnt mind sending warm thoughts her way, that would be so sweet and appreciated!  Thanks.  Happy scrapping!

One week left!

It's official.  I have only one week left of my 27th year.  Ack!  I do not know why I had to be so impatient in the womb coming out two months early.  Would you like to hear the story of my birth?  It's quite entertaining.  It was January 29th, 1981 and my mother was not due until March so when she began to feel "gas-y" she did not think much of it.  However, when the pain began to worsen, she realized she was in labour.  They called my grandfather to come and watch my three brothers who were sound asleep because it was very late or very early, depending on how you look at it.  When my parents arrived at the hospital and told them my mother was in labour, they were laughed at.  They said she was not due for quite some time and they should go back home.  My parents made such a fuss that the nurse on duty finally gave in and put them in a delivery room just to "shut them up" and gave them a student nurse to monitor my mother.  The student nurse had never been at a delivery before and was quite scared.  Very quickly my mother went into hard labour and I was making my way out.  My Dad was yelling at the nurse to go get help but she was so afraid that she sank into the corner of the room crying.  Before he even knew what was happening, my father had delivered me and the nurse and doctor came screaming into the room.  My father held me in his arms and muttered something like, "told ya so."  LOL  At the end of the day, I was not very pretty.  I was bald with glossy, yellow skin (Jaundice) and resembled an "alien."  Yuppers.  I did, however, improve and was a hefty 5lbs in no time at all.  ;)  I was lucky that I had no more health issues and was home wrecking havoc on my poor family in no time at all.

My sweet son has informed me that he is now official too old to have his picture taken in the bath tub.  However, he was still ever so happy to pose for me.

Day 18

Day 18

As I promised yesterday, here is Sean's cartoon that was published in today's paper.  If you get the chance, please stop by his blog.  He loves attention.  ;)

Cape Breton Ink Blog!

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the USA!  On the 20th, we went to the White House website to find a picture of Bush and the site was completely new!  I made a joke about how quickly Obama had taken over and apparently I was not the only one who noticed the site.  It actually made the news with The Globe and Mail.

See ya tomorrow!

I was a slippin' n a slidin'!

Walking Connor to school this morning was an exercise in attention and consideration.  The entire way was ice and it took us twice as long to get there.  On the way home, in front of a bunch of people of course, I slipped.  I did not fall, but I slipped and hurt my hip.  I have no idea how, but boy does it hurt.  Ick.  So I am trying to not go outside walking for the next few days.  Staying vertical is always best.  ;)

I promised some new products and HERE THEY ARE!  :)

I snapped this one of Connor before we went to school.  It just wasnt bright enough but I refused to pop up the flash.  I am stubborn like that.  Connor bought this chimp yesterday with his allowance and is just so proud of him.

Even more products and photos coming soon!  Also, I have decided to start posting a few of my man's cartoons on here.  Tomorrow we will have the cartoon he drew today, for tomorrow's paper.  Until then, you can check him out on his blog.  Yes, he finally has a blog...  :)  Sean Leslie Casey, aka Case!  Have a great day!

Dont let the sun fool ya!

The sun is shining brightly these last few days but its such trickery!  Its still so cold.  I cannot wait until tomorrow when it is suppose to be +6C!!!  PLUS!!!!  Above freezing!  Today its -15C and tomorrow its going up to 6C!  Talk about a huge change in temps.  Welcomed change, very welcomed change.  For a little while now there were rumours floating around that our fave Tim Horton's would be closing for renovations.  Today when we pulled in for our usual Sunday morning coffee there was a trailer in the parking lot.  A temporary "Walk-In/Drive-Thru" station.  ACK!  No warning!  Thankfully, I suppose, the pipes to the station froze in the -30C temps last night and so the store remained open long enough for us to have our coffee.  It was cold though because they turned the heat down for some odd reason.  To keep us out may be?  So until sometime in Feb. we have to find another spot to gather.  Makes us sad.  :(  It was so bare!  No fake plants, empty cases, pictures are gone from the walls.  Only the bare essentials were left.  I took a picture from my seat in the corner.  (Maggie knows, she was here!!)

Day 14

Day 14

Yesterday there was not much to do.  I suppose everyone had the same idea as Sean and I and headed to the theatre.  The place was jammed and it was only the matinee!  We went to see "Doubt" with Meryl Streep.  It was good, certainly left you thinking about things...  On the way I asked Sean to pull over so I could snap a quick photo.  It was SO COLD I jumped out, snapped the pic, and jumped back into the car as quickly as I could.  After watching Bear Grylls jump into a river, naked, in the middle of the Siberian winter, I feel like a wuss, but that that man is insane.  Entertaining, yet insane.  I have no idea how his wife can stand it.  I wonder if she watches the show.  It would drive me mad.  I get upset with Sean for not wearing his seatbelt.  Anyway, I ramble, here is my "Oh man its too cold out here to try and take another shot" photo.  :)

Day 13

Day 13

I know I havent been doing much here about scrapping lately.  My mojo ran away from home last week...  I am hoping to jumpstart it today.  Look for new products in my store soon!  Also, dont forget that we are having a CT Call over at the Guild so stop on by!  We would love to have you!

Oh the wanting...

I want to be SO creative today but nothing is coming out of me.  Am I trying to hard?  I think that may be an issue.  I have so many projects already on the go.  May be my goal today should be to get some things finished???  I think so.   I will have to scout the net and find a nice project for Connor to complete while I do something.

If I actually finish something, I will post it tomorrow.  :)  As for today, all I have are some photos because I dont want to get lost in the 365 project.  I decided that to encourage myself to take nice photos and to continue with it, I should have a project in mind for the photos.  Well, I came up with something that is fun and a great reminder to myself and everyone who comes into my house.  I am going to have each photo printed (with a white border so I can have some sort of symmetry) and tack them to the wall behind my TV which is bare.  I now have ten photos up and realize that the entire wall will be covered and I will still have more photos then room.  Ah well, we shall see how it goes. When I have a decent amount of photos I will snap it and post it.

Last night Connor and I had a movie night.  We cuddled up on the couch, ate apples and watched a show together.  I remembered that I didnt take a photo so I thought I would snap a quick one of him while the credits where rolling.

Day 11

Day 11

I bought this little birdie the other day.  I picked him up for a dollar out of a Christmas clearance bin.  He was a tree ornament but I cut off his tag.  I thought it would go so well in my room.  If I ever actually finish my room, I will take some photos to share.  I know, I know, I never finish anything!!  LOL

Day 12

Day 12

Connor should be home soon so I am off to find a project.  If anyone knows any good kid crafting blogs, please link me up!

Good News!

I just weighed myself and I am down 3.5lbs!  AND my so-called friend is visiting so that means I might have lost even more.  We shall see!  :)  This makes me happy.  Knowing that all that running in freezing temps, snow and ice, is paying off.  Today was a snow day for Connor.  Not sure why because there really wasnt any additional snow on the ground, just a lot of wetness because the temps are above freezing.  I do believe I heard it was slippery in the city, may be thats why they cancelled the whole island.  Connor was happy anyway.  We snuggled in bed after breakfast and watched cartoons together.  I snapped my pic of the day while he was checking out the weather.  What is that expression??  LOL

Day 10

Day 10

I am off to the city to run some errands.  Hoping Sean doesnt force me to go see Valkyrie today.  I would much rather see Bride Wars.    Alas, it is his turn to choose.  We have BOGO coupons which is AWESOME because it saves us a lot of money.  We do nothing else but go to the movies and eat.   Did I mention that Harvey's now has whole wheat buns?  This makes me happy.  I dont particularly like them, I am just hoping other places around here follow suit so I can stop carrying buns with me.  ;)

Hope everyone has a nice day whether its shining or snowing or raining or...you get the idea.  :)

Oh so sore!

Remember yesterday when I was saying how cute and sweet Bob Harper was?  I LIED!  Oh man, my abs are so sore today it hurts to BREATH!  LOL  Thats the bad news.  The good news is that today I ran my first day of Week 4 of the C25K plan.  It was ROUGH!  Besides the fact that I am sore, that first five minute run was torture.  The last five were much better though.  Connor came with me and he was begging me to stop because HE was tired.  I ended up carrying his stuff home.  Now before people think I am MEAN and make my son run for 30 mins in the cold.  He was playing in the snow in the middle of the track while I ran around him.  :)

At last night's chat we talked about creating a layout using an action called B & Big by Panos FX, which is a free download on their site.  CHECK IT OUT!  Its awesome.  :)  Here is the page I created for it using 'Everyday' by Catrine, which is this month's Gold Member kit at DST.

Back to Project 365!  Yesterday I took a photo of my parents and Connor when they came to visit.

Day 8

Day 8

Today I decided to grab a few shots of ME!  It didnt work out too well but I got a few ok shots.  I particularly love this shot.  Now I know that technically there is a lot wrong with this photo but I treasure it.  Its soft and I love the solar flare.  :)  Oh and I used my Acidic Addictions PS action on this one!

Day 9

Day 9

The Biggest Loser is on tonight.  Yay!  Sean told me today that my 'head was smaller.'  Ummmm....my head is smaller?  Pretty sure he meant my face, which is a good thing.  Hope everyone had a nice day.

The Biggest Loser *possible spoiler if you didnt see last week's epi*

Sean came running with me yesterday!  It was not an easy day.  It was cold at -3C or so but the worst part was that there was no sun and lots of ice.  We did it though!  I have now finished Week 3 of the C25K program and will have to download next week's cast tonight.  On Saturday, after we took down Nan's Christmas decor, we headed into the city.  I went to Walmart and they had NOTHING I was looking for.  *grumbles*  lol  Anyway, while I was there I did pick up two things.  Both of them were Biggest Loser products.  The first was The Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD which was only $7 so I couldnt pass it up.  Bob is so cute but so tough!  I will never understand why people always say how soft he is!  Its so not true!  lol   That glare he gives you just DARING YOU to give up!!

BOByogaCover

I just did the workout this morning for Week One and let me tell you!  Its not easy!  The man sure does enjoy his plank positions!  If you are interested in losing weight I would definitely recommend this DVD.  Ouch!  You can customize you workouts, have Bob talk and music or just the music.  I really like it.  Last week on BL nine people were sent home from the ranch to compete on their own.  I love this idea!  I love the comparisons that will be made.  I understand how BL works, I am not disillusioned in anyway to think that I could have the same weight losses that they do on the ranch.  However, I still find it incredibly inspirational and encouraging nonetheless.  So to have people from home working with them will be that much more inspiring I think.  :)

My second BL purchase was the Biggest Loser Family Cookbook which is budget friendly.

BLFCB

I read through it on Saturday night.  On Sunday morning we had Banana Cream of Wheat for breakfast which was delish!  It really tasted like a mixture of Cream of Wheat and banana bread.  Perfect for a winter morning.  Last night we decided to try another recipe.  We decided to go with the Pizza Burgers which we just loved.  They reminded me of Sloppy Joes only juicy with sauce and not grease.  Very nice.  Plus since we had to make the sauce, we have enough for supper tonight as well.  So tonight we will be having spaghetti and meatballs.  Connor will love this!  He loves singing the song 'On Top of Spaghetti' while we cook.  lol  So cute.

Day Six

Day 6

We went to visit my parents and Shalako was grimy from the snow so I gave him a bath.  He hated me while I was doing it but loved me afterwards.  See that almost smile???  lol  My Dad was after me for using Connor's camera again.  I suppose I am going to have to buy myself a small camera.  They are just so handy.

Day Seven

Day 7

Meet Jupiter.  This little kitty showed up at Nan's and we feed him every day.  He is so tiny!  When he first came around he was limping a bit but seems to have fully recovered.  I named him.  I have named all of the strays.  Something is wrong with me.  However here is Jupiter, then we have Silver and the Incredible Fluff.  Fluff is SUPER fluffy, hence the name, and I have NEVER met a cat that was so eager for attention.  He literally jumps up to get you to pet him.  They are adorable.... Oh man. Did I just say cats are adorable?  Someone slap me!

We went to see the movie Marley and Me!  WONDERFUL!  Fantastic!  The reason why people should only have dogs.  Cried like a baby, laughed like a fool.  Go see it!  Go!  NOW!  Go!  Why are you still here reading???  .....;)

T.G.I.F.

I am so happy that the weekend is here!  Getting back on track after the holidays has been a little difficult at bedtime and I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.  This morning I went for my C25K run, Week 3 Second Run, and it wasnt too bad.  It was almost warm at -2C. ;)  The track was only half frozen.  When I went to run off the track I fell through ice and ended up ankle deep in freezing cold water.  Nice.  I made it home alright though and quickly jumped in the tub to warm my toes.  Only one more run and I move on to week four.  I had my doubts but I know now that this program is actually doable. :)

I received an email today from Artscow for a Tote bag offer.  You can get a personalized tote bag for $7.99US with free shipping.  So I jumped on that because I could use a nice overnight bag for when I sleep at Nan's house.  This is what I created with a layout I had already completed.  Oh and if you are interested the code for the bag is TOTEBAG799.  The first one is $7.99 and any additional bag is $11.99, still a great deal!

Armina from DST made me this awesome avatar!  Isnt it great?  :)  I won a random drawing for mine but I do know that she takes orders if anyone is interested!  I think she got my nose down pat but I think I should have asked her to make me skinny. ;)  lol

Things that make me happy!

Yesterday I went to the mall and I bought myself some things.  No one else.  Just me.  Did I feel guilty?  Yuppers, for like a whole two minutes!  LOL  I never go out and spend my money on myself.  I generally am buying for Connor but yesterday I was feeling like I needed a pick me up.  After being sick and busy with the holidays, my house is a disaster and it has me pretty bummed out.  So many things to catch up on and so little time.  I am ALMOST done of my house but then I have to work on Nan's.  Secretly hoping some magic fairies come along and do everything for me.  ;)  So what did I buy myself?  A new house coat!  Its VERY soft and warm.  My old one, which I think is still in FINE shape, is like 10 or 11 years old.  My first boyfriend bought it for me back in high school.  So I figured it was time for a new one.  I got it on clearance for $20.  :)  Score.  I also bought myself a new neck wrap because my Magic Bag has pretty much given up on me.  I use it ALL THE TIME and its begging for a vacation.  The new one I bought is very soft and has gel in it.  We shall see how it works.  I also bought myself some wall decals.  For how much???  THREE DOLLARS EACH!  OMG!  Can you believe it?  I love them!  One is a chandelier and the other is a set of birds and birdcages.  Oh I cannot wait to hang them but first I must paint my room.  I also grabbed some green daises at Michael's to put in the vase I bought at Winner's a few weeks back, it cost me a whole $2.  Can you tell I love bargain hunting?

Photos for the last two days!  We went into the city yesterday and I was afraid I was going to miss my photo but I had Connor's camera still in my bag.  Whew!  Have you ever noticed how often people misuse quotation marks?

Day Three

Day Three

Do they not really want us to be cautious??  Hmm???  I wonder...  I took this photo at the mall last night.  Can ya tell it was taken at night?  LOL

Day Four

Day Four

Connor and I had some hot chocolate today because of the cold weather.  First snow day of the year.  Well, more like a slushy day, very messy.  Hope everyone is having a great day!  New Grey's Anatomy tonight!  Dont forget to tune it!  ;)

The Biggest Loser!

The new season of TBL is coming on tonight and I am SO EXCITED!  I loved last season and my girl Michelle won!  :)  I hope I like the people this year.  There have been years that people annoyed me so much I wouldnt watch.  I cannot wait to be inspired.  I went running again today, two days in a row.  Today I started Week 3, it was -5C and snowy but I did it!!!  I am still so proud of myself.  I will continue to be proud and gloat.  lol  So be prepared!

Today is Day 2 of my 365 challenge!  Connor and I went for a walk around the brook today to take some photos.  We didnt last though because it was SO bitter cold.  We only got a few shots in before we ran home.  This is normally where I do my runs!  It continues on in both directions and I usually go around 2-3 times depending on my speed.

Would you rather ice cream or a million dollars? Hmmmm.....

I just heard that on TV.  LOL  I think I would take the million and buy some ice cream.  ;)  My friend Carolyn is doing 365 this year.  This is where you take one picture a day, every day, for a year.  Last year I tried doing 365 self-portraits.  I made it over the 100 mark but then just got so tired of seeing myself I stopped.  lol  This year I thought I would follow suit and do a photo a day.  I thought I would start today.  Even Connor told me today that I dont take as many pictures as I use too.  Since it was late and I still hadnt taken one, I snapped a photo of Connor taking a photo of me!
